IVOR (9.5yrs old Golden Retriever x Lab)
years of devotion to Amanda, now it is her time to give her loyal companion the best chance available
Amanda has had 14 surgeries in the last 5 years. She has Cerebral Palsy & is a quadriplegic. Now it is her time to give Ivor the same chance & loving attention, with him recently being diagnosed with a high grade tumour. Ivor has been Amanda's Assistance Dog and now Amanda and her family are raising funds for the treatment of his condition.
The people of the Central Coast, Jennifer Hunt from Pet Medical Crisis Fund & other local organisations, along with the Express Advocate, have been tremendous in their efforts & support. The vets have been discounting their procedures too & as a team everyone is 100% behind both Ivor & Amanda.
TO MAKE A DONATION- Please use- Pet Medical Crisis Fund (where donations are tax deductible) or Pet Imaging Centre- Pet Donation Fund ANZ BSB 012633 Account no. 214803247 and type "IVOR". Donations are held in trust for unique pet welfare cases.
The CT Specialist report had mainly good news. The chest and lung fields along with the organs of the abdomen all appear normal. The regional lymph nodes draining the area of the high grade Mast Cell Tumour appear to be normal at this time, which is great.
The CT however, picked up a further 3 small lesions that need to be sampled & sent to pathology. They range fro 8mm in diameter to 12mm in diameter, so are tiny. The CT scans will be used to help locate these lesions for samplinig. Ivor was asked to return to the Pet Imaging Centre for the day (4/7) for this to be performed. The surgery on the MCT has been post-posed, while these other multiple, soft tissue lesions are investigated. The subcutaneous nodule on the left lateral thigh on the CT scan is compatible with the cytology of neoplasia (cancer). There is an area of contact between this subcutaneous nodule & the underlying muscle, and the CT report said the tumour may be infiltrating the underlying muscle of the leg, rather than just laying under the skin. Due to the wide margins that need to be removed, a large portion of the leg muscle will now also be removed. Currently Amanda & family are anxiously waiting the other lesion results from pathology & we hope these lumps are benign (not cancer), so we can continue as planned with only one problem area.
